Spelling Words for the Week: Big, dig, hop, mop, tug, rug, cat, flat, best, & nest.
I hope everyone had a wonderful and restful weekend!
This week we will have our first spelling and religion test. Our spelling and religion test will be on Friday, September 23rd. In your child's homework packet, you will find two practice spelling pages. Please be sure your child is practicing their spelling words on a nightly basis. In addition to your child's homework packet, I also sent home two Superkid stories. If you could please have your child read these stories throughout the week, I would greatly appreciate it. This is a wonderful way to help your child practice reading with fluency.
Today in Superkids we discussed punctuation within written text such as end marks, exclamation marks, question marks, commas, and quotations. We also learned where the Superkids made their club (an old school bus from Gus and Gert's gas station). Once the Superkids found a place for their club, they worked hard to fix up the old bus. The Superkids club is a place where all the kids can use their imagination. Please be sure to ask your child all about Planet Wump!
In math, we began chapter one, which focuses on addition story problems, ordinal counting, and greater or less than symbols. Today, we discussed how we can use number lines to identify where specific numbers fall (before, in between, or after).
In religion, we began talking about the Holy Trinity. We discussed that the Holy Trinity encompasses three important people: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. The Holy Trinity is a representation of one God in three people. As a reminder, your child will be assessed on this information on Friday.
To go along with our theme of the week, our classroom brainstormed different ways we can be "peacemakers" and "peace breakers." Then your child wrote and gave examples about people who are peace breakers.
Have a great night!
