Spelling Rule for the Week: When a word has a pair of vowels together, the first vowel is usually long and the second is silent.
- Progress reports are being sent home today. Please keep in mind that your child's grades reflect their current academic performance. Therefore, your child's grades can fluctuate (become higher or lower) from now until the end of the second trimester.

**Extra Credit Assignment: Research reveals that sight word knowledge increases reading fluency and your child's writing. Therefore, it's extremely important that your child can readily recognize all 220 sight words by the end of first grade. To help your child read and recall these sight words, I will be giving an extra credit opportunity. As you know, our classroom has a word wall, which helps students properly spell their high frequency sight words. For extra credit (not mandatory), I would love to see your child create their own word wall at home. I have attached the link containing all the sight words. Please feel free to print and begin your creation! Most importantly, if your child completes this assignment, please send me a picture of their word wall at email@example.com
