Superkids: This week in Superkids we are learning all about adding -ing and -ed endings to CVCe words. When adding -ing and -ed endings to CVCe words, you have to drop the e and add the ending. In reading groups, we are reading "Race Day." This week, we are focusing on identifying the problem and a solution within printed text. **Please be sure your child is logging into the online portal at home to reinforce the material covered in the classroom!
Math: This week in math we are discussing place value using tens and ones. In addition to writing numerical numbers 0-100, we are also practicing how to spell number words as well.
Religion: This week in religion we are learning all about belonging to a parish. We are discussing the members of a parish (pastor, deacon, etc.) and how to come together as a group to share God's love.
Science: THIS JUST IN...BREAKING NEWS! Today is day 6 of our science experiment and one group has discovered their first sighting of mold! Who would've thought moldy bread could be so exciting to first graders?! Tonight, be sure to ask your child which type of bread (organic or non-organic) began molding first!

**I wanted you to be aware that there has been a change of date to our school-wide Science Fair. The new date is January 31, 2017 from 5:30-7:00. During this time, you can come learn all about first grades science experiment!
Additionally, on Friday January 20th, there will be a dress down day for students. To dress down, your child must either bring $3 or wet/dry dog or cat food. All donations will go to the Connecticut Humane Society in Newington to help shelter pets. Help save the pets!
